Letter Writing Guide
Everything you need to write a great letter to your pen pal — from structuring your thoughts to addressing the envelope and buying the right stamp.
What you need
- Pen or pencil
- Paper or stationery
- Standard #10 envelope
- Forever stamp
How to write a letter
- Write the date in the top right corner
- Start with a friendly greeting, e.g. "Dear [Name],"
- Write your opening paragraph introducing yourself or referencing their last letter
- Share news, stories, questions, or reflections in the body
- Close warmly, e.g. "Warm regards," followed by your name
Addressing the envelope
- Write your return address in the top-left corner
- Write your pen pal's address in the centre
- Affix a stamp in the top-right corner
